You're not alone

Face the Darkness, face your fears in Alone in the Dark 5. Originally known as Alone in the Dark: Near Death Investigation and informally known as Alone in the Dark 5 to avoid any confusion (we know that game creators wouldn't want that, would they?), this is the fifth installment of the survival horror video game series. If you're accustomed to venturing out in the evil darkness surrounding you, you'll be rapidly aware that the gameplay in this game differs a great deal from what you had played before. Let me explain.

The gameplay is set out through DVD-style 'episodes', where you can choose to start the game from the beginning, or choose to skip to a section if you get stuck (a watering down choice that we won't comment). If you choose that option, the past events are recollected in a "Previously on Alone In The Dark..." cutscene at the start of each episode you skipped. Rather like an interactive movie. But Alone in the Dark 5 is not just about skipping episodes. Its also about first and third person camera views, puzzle solving, and obviously shock and horror in Central Park. Much like Central Park in the 80's really, where a stroll at night could make the evil of the world around you arise. But I digress.
